The luxury fashion house has launched nine editions of the coveted Louis Vuitton and Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh.

One of Nike's most recognisable models, the AF1 has become an enduring cultural touchstone. Its continued relevance in fashion, music, and art lends itself perfectly to an Abloh-engineered remix.

First revealed at Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2022 menswear show, the sneakers are emblematic of Abloh's merging of "high" and "low." Embossed with Louis Vuitton's monogram, outfitted in Damier-checked leather, and emblazoned with "AIR" across the midsole, the revamped shoes reference the cover of It Takes Two by DJ E-ZRock. Immortalised in the album art is a pair of Dapper Dan-designed Air Force1s, customised with LV-monogrammed Swooshes.

Two hundred pairs were sold via auction at Sotheby's in February 2022 to benefit the Virgil Abloh “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund and raised $25.3 million, far eclipsing the $3 million estimate for the lot.
